# CVE-2023-42627: Liferay Portal and Liferay DXP Vulnerable to XSS in the Commerce Module

**Signal:** Critical and remotely reachable. No known exploitation yet, but it is network-reachable without credentials. (Computed from CISA KEV, EPSS and CVSS; not an editorial verdict.)

## Should you act?

- No confirmed exploitation. It is not in CISA’s KEV catalog and CISA’s SSVC assessment records no known exploitation. That can change quickly after a public write-up; re-check if you are affected.
- EPSS 2.8% , percentile 86: FIRST’s model estimates a 2.8% chance of exploitation activity in the next 30 days, higher than 86% of all scored CVEs (elevated). EPSS is a probability, not a verdict.
- Needs a user to click or open something. Phishing makes that realistic, but it is not wormable.
- Only applies if your dependency tree includes com.liferay.commerce:com.liferay.commerce.address.content.web (Maven) < 4.0.35, fixed in 4.0.35 ; com.liferay.portal:release.dxp.bom (Maven) >= 7.3.0, <= 7.3.10.u33, no fixed version listed ; com.liferay.portal:release.dxp.bom (Maven) >= 7.4.0, <= 7.4.13.u92, no fixed version listed . Check your lockfile, including transitive dependencies.

## What it is

Multiple stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in the Commerce module in Liferay Portal 7.3.5 through 7.4.3.91, and Liferay DXP 7.3 update 33 and earlier, and 7.4 before update 92 allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via a crafted payload injected into a (1) Shipping Name, (2) Shipping Phone Number, (3) Shipping Address, (4) Shipping Address 2, (5) Shipping Address 3, (6) Shipping Zip, (7) Shipping City, (8) Shipping Region (9), Shipping Country, (10) Billing Name, (11) Billing Phone Number, (12) Billing Address, (13) Billing Address 2, (14) Billing Address 3, (15) Billing Zip, (16) Billing City, (17) Billing Region, (18) Billing Country, or (19) Region Code.

## Affected packages

- Maven `com.liferay.commerce:com.liferay.commerce.address.content.web` < 4.0.35 → fixed: 4.0.35
- Maven `com.liferay.portal:release.dxp.bom` >= 7.3.0, <= 7.3.10.u33 → fixed: none listed
- Maven `com.liferay.portal:release.dxp.bom` >= 7.4.0, <= 7.4.13.u92 → fixed: none listed

## Affected products (CVE record)

- Liferay DXP: 7.3.10 <= 7.3.10.*, 7.4.13 <= 7.4.13.u91
- Liferay Portal: 7.3.5 <= 7.4.3.91

## Severity

- Liferay CVSS 3.1: 9.6 `CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H`
- GitHub CVSS 3.1: 9.6 `CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H`

## Exploitation

- CISA KEV: not listed (no confirmed in-the-wild exploitation known to CISA).
- CISA SSVC assessment: exploitation none , automatable no , technical impact total .
- FIRST EPSS (model of 2026-10-21): 2.79% probability of exploitation activity in the next 30 days; percentile 86.
