# CVE-2024-51378: CyberPanel Incorrect Default Permissions Vulnerability

**Signal:** Exploited: patch now if you run it. CISA has confirmed exploitation in the wild. (Computed from CISA KEV, EPSS and CVSS; not an editorial verdict.)

## Should you act?

- Yes, if you run CyberPersons CyberPanel. CISA added this CVE to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog on 2024-12-04, which means there is reliable evidence of exploitation in the wild. US federal agencies must remediate by 2024-12-25 ; treat that as the outer limit, not the target. CISA also lists it as known to be used in ransomware campaigns .
- EPSS 94.7% , percentile 99.9: FIRST’s model estimates a 94.7% chance of exploitation activity in the next 30 days, higher than 99.9% of all scored CVEs (very high). EPSS is a probability, not a verdict.
- Remotely reachable with no login and no user interaction. If the vulnerable service is exposed to the internet, prioritize it.

## What it is

getresetstatus in dns/views.py and ftp/views.py in CyberPanel (aka Cyber Panel) before 1c0c6cb allows remote attackers to bypass authentication and execute arbitrary commands via /dns/getresetstatus or /ftp/getresetstatus by bypassing secMiddleware (which is only for a POST request) and using shell metacharacters in the statusfile property, as exploited in the wild in October 2024 by PSAUX. Versions through 2.3.6 and (unpatched) 2.3.7 are affected.

## Affected products (CVE record)

- n/a n/a: see advisory

## Severity

- mitre CVSS 3.1: 10 `CVSS:3.1/AC:L/AV:N/A:H/C:H/I:H/PR:N/S:C/UI:N`

## Exploitation

- CISA KEV: added 2024-12-04; federal due date 2024-12-25. Known ransomware use: Known.
- CISA required action: Apply mitigations per vendor instructions or discontinue use of the product if mitigations are unavailable.
- CISA SSVC assessment: exploitation active , automatable yes , technical impact total .
- FIRST EPSS (model of 2026-10-21): 94.75% probability of exploitation activity in the next 30 days; percentile 99.9.
