Critical and remotely reachable
No known exploitation yet, but it is network-reachable without credentials. This signal is computed from CISA KEV, EPSS and CVSS data; it is not an editorial verdict.
- Not in CISA KEV, but CISA’s SSVC assessment records a public proof-of-concept, so attack code exists.
- EPSS 1.2%, percentile 67: FIRST’s model estimates a 1.2% chance of exploitation activity in the next 30 days, higher than 67% of all scored CVEs (moderate). EPSS is a probability, not a verdict.
- Remotely reachable with no login and no user interaction. If the vulnerable service is exposed to the internet, prioritize it.
- Only applies if your dependency tree includes
lollms(PyPI) >= 5.9.0, < 9.5.1, fixed in 9.5.1. Check your lockfile, including transitive dependencies.
What it is
CVE-2024-4320 describes a vulnerability in the parisneo/lollms software, specifically within the ExtensionBuilder().buildextension() function. The vulnerability arises from the /mountextension endpoint, where a path traversal issue allows attackers to navigate beyond the intended directory structure. This is facilitated by the data.category and data.folder parameters accepting empty strings (""), which, due to inadequate input sanitization, can lead to the construction of a packagepath that points to the root directory. Consequently, if an attacker can create a config.yaml file in a controllable path, this path can be appended to the extensions list and trigger the execution of init.py in the current directory, leading to remote code execution. The vulnerability affects versions up to 5.9.0, and has been addressed in version 9.8.
