# CVE-2024-8957: PTZOptics PT30X-SDI/NDI Cameras OS Command Injection Vulnerability

**Signal:** Exploited: patch now if you run it. CISA has confirmed exploitation in the wild. (Computed from CISA KEV, EPSS and CVSS; not an editorial verdict.)

## Should you act?

- Yes, if you run PTZOptics PT30X-SDI/NDI Cameras. CISA added this CVE to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog on 2024-11-04, which means there is reliable evidence of exploitation in the wild. US federal agencies must remediate by 2024-11-25 ; treat that as the outer limit, not the target.
- EPSS 79.8% , percentile 99.6: FIRST’s model estimates a 79.8% chance of exploitation activity in the next 30 days, higher than 99.6% of all scored CVEs (very high). EPSS is a probability, not a verdict.
- Needs an account (high (admin)). Exposure depends on who can log in.

## What it is

PTZOptics PT30X-SDI/NDI-xx before firmware 6.3.40 is vulnerable to an OS command injection issue. The camera does not sufficiently validate the ntpaddr configuration value which may lead to arbitrary command execution when ntpclient is started. When chained with CVE-2024-8956, a remote and unauthenticated attacker can execute arbitrary OS commands on affected devices.

## Affected products (CVE record)

- PTZOptics PT30X-SDI: < 6.3.40
- PTZOptics PT30X-NDI: < 6.3.40

## Severity

- VulnCheck CVSS 3.1: 7.2 `CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H`

## Exploitation

- CISA KEV: added 2024-11-04; federal due date 2024-11-25. Known ransomware use: Unknown.
- CISA required action: Apply mitigations per vendor instructions or discontinue use of the product if mitigations are unavailable.
- CISA SSVC assessment: exploitation active , automatable no , technical impact total .
- FIRST EPSS (model of 2026-10-21): 79.84% probability of exploitation activity in the next 30 days; percentile 99.6.
