Should you act?

Exploited: patch now if you run it

CISA has confirmed exploitation in the wild. This signal is computed from CISA KEV, EPSS and CVSS data; it is not an editorial verdict.

  • Yes, if you run React Native Community CLI. CISA added this CVE to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog on 2026-02-05, which means there is reliable evidence of exploitation in the wild. US federal agencies must remediate by 2026-02-26; treat that as the outer limit, not the target.
  • EPSS 94.0%, percentile 99.8: FIRST’s model estimates a 94.0% chance of exploitation activity in the next 30 days, higher than 99.8% of all scored CVEs (very high). EPSS is a probability, not a verdict.
  • Remotely reachable with no login and no user interaction. If the vulnerable service is exposed to the internet, prioritize it.
  • Only applies if your dependency tree includes @react-native-community/cli (npm) >= 20.0.0-alpha.0, < 20.0.0, fixed in 20.0.0; @react-native-community/cli (npm) >= 19.0.0-alpha.0, < 19.1.2, fixed in 19.1.2; @react-native-community/cli (npm) >= 18.0.0, < 18.0.1, fixed in 18.0.1; @react-native-community/cli-server-api (npm) >= 20.0.0-alpha.0, < 20.0.0, fixed in 20.0.0. Check your lockfile, including transitive dependencies.

What it is

The Metro Development Server, which is opened by the React Native Community CLI, binds to external interfaces by default. The server exposes an endpoint that is vulnerable to OS command injection. This allows unauthenticated network attackers to send a POST request to the server and run arbitrary executables. On Windows, the attackers can also execute arbitrary shell commands with fully controlled arguments.

On Windows, the attackers can also execute arbitrary shell commands with fully controlled arguments.

CISA’s summary

React Native Community CLI contains an OS command injection vulnerability which could allow unauthenticated network attackers to send POST requests to the Metro Development Server and run arbitrary executables via a vulnerable endpoint exposed by the server. On Windows, attackers can also execute arbitrary shell commands with fully controlled arguments.
