Should you act?

Exploited: patch now if you run it

CISA has confirmed exploitation in the wild. This signal is computed from CISA KEV, EPSS and CVSS data; it is not an editorial verdict.

  • Yes, if you run tj-actions changed-files GitHub Action. CISA added this CVE to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog on 2025-03-18, which means there is reliable evidence of exploitation in the wild. US federal agencies must remediate by 2025-04-08; treat that as the outer limit, not the target.
  • EPSS 72.1%, percentile 99: FIRST’s model estimates a 72.1% chance of exploitation activity in the next 30 days, higher than 99% of all scored CVEs (very high). EPSS is a probability, not a verdict.
  • Remotely reachable with no login and no user interaction. If the vulnerable service is exposed to the internet, prioritize it.
  • Editorial verdict: Check exposure. tj-actions/changed-files: GitHub Action Leaked CI Secrets — The malicious tags were cleaned up within about a day in March 2025; today the job is confirming you rotated any secret that a March 14-15, 2025 workflow run could have printed, and that you pin Actions by SHA.

What it is

tj-actions changed-files before 46 allows remote attackers to discover secrets by reading actions logs. (The tags v1 through v45.0.7 were affected on 2025-03-14 and 2025-03-15 because they were modified by a threat actor to point at commit 0e58ed8, which contained malicious updateFeatures code.)
