# CVE-2025-31125: Vite Vitejs Improper Access Control Vulnerability

**Signal:** Exploited: patch now if you run it. CISA has confirmed exploitation in the wild. (Computed from CISA KEV, EPSS and CVSS; not an editorial verdict.)

## Should you act?

- Yes, if you run Vite Vitejs. CISA added this CVE to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog on 2026-01-22, which means there is reliable evidence of exploitation in the wild. US federal agencies must remediate by 2026-02-12 ; treat that as the outer limit, not the target.
- EPSS 65.2% , percentile 99: FIRST’s model estimates a 65.2% chance of exploitation activity in the next 30 days, higher than 99% of all scored CVEs (very high). EPSS is a probability, not a verdict.
- Needs a user to click or open something. Phishing makes that realistic, but it is not wormable.

## What it is

Vite is a frontend tooling framework for javascript. Vite exposes content of non-allowed files using ?inline&import or ?raw?import. Only apps explicitly exposing the Vite dev server to the network (using --host or server.host config option) are affected. This vulnerability is fixed in 6.2.4, 6.1.3, 6.0.13, 5.4.16, and 4.5.11.

## Affected products (CVE record)

- vitejs vite: >= 6.2.0, < 6.2.4, >= 6.1.0, < 6.1.3, >= 6.0.0, < 6.0.13, >= 5.0.0, < 5.4.16, < 4.5.11

## Severity

- GitHub_M CVSS 3.1: 5.3 `CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N`

## Exploitation

- CISA KEV: added 2026-01-22; federal due date 2026-02-12. Known ransomware use: Unknown.
- CISA required action: Apply mitigations per vendor instructions, follow applicable BOD 22-01 guidance for cloud services, or discontinue use of the product if mitigations are unavailable.
- CISA SSVC assessment: exploitation active , automatable no , technical impact total .
- FIRST EPSS (model of 2026-10-21): 65.19% probability of exploitation activity in the next 30 days; percentile 99.
