# CVE-2025-53623: Job Iteration API is vulnerable to OS Command Injection attack through its CsvEnumerator class

**Signal:** Normal patch cycle. No exploitation signal; fix it in your next routine update if you are affected. (Computed from CISA KEV, EPSS and CVSS; not an editorial verdict.)

## Should you act?

- No confirmed exploitation. It is not in CISA’s KEV catalog and CISA’s SSVC assessment records no known exploitation. That can change quickly after a public write-up; re-check if you are affected.
- EPSS 0.8% , percentile 57: FIRST’s model estimates a 0.8% chance of exploitation activity in the next 30 days, higher than 57% of all scored CVEs (moderate). EPSS is a probability, not a verdict.
- Remotely reachable with no login and no user interaction. If the vulnerable service is exposed to the internet, prioritize it.
- Only applies if your dependency tree includes job-iteration (RubyGems) < 1.11, fixed in 1.11 . Check your lockfile, including transitive dependencies.

## What it is

The Job Iteration API is an an extension for ActiveJob that make jobs interruptible and resumable Versions prior to 1.11.0 have an arbitrary code execution vulnerability in the CsvEnumerator class. This vulnerability can be exploited by an attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the system where the application is running, potentially leading to unauthorized access, data leakage, or complete system compromise. The issue is fixed in versions 1.11.0 and above. Users can mitigate the risk by avoiding the use of untrusted input in the CsvEnumerator class and ensuring that any file paths are properly sanitized and validated before being passed to the class methods. Users should avoid using the countofrowsinfile method with untrusted CSV filenames.

## Affected packages

- RubyGems `job-iteration` < 1.11 → fixed: 1.11

## Affected products (CVE record)

- Shopify job-iteration: < 1.11.0

## Severity

- GitHub_M CVSS 4.0: 8.1 `CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:U`
- GitHub CVSS 4.0: 9.3 `CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N`

## Exploitation

- CISA KEV: not listed (no confirmed in-the-wild exploitation known to CISA).
- CISA SSVC assessment: exploitation none , automatable yes , technical impact total .
- FIRST EPSS (model of 2026-10-21): 0.83% probability of exploitation activity in the next 30 days; percentile 57.
