# CVE-2025-57819: Sangoma FreePBX Authentication Bypass Vulnerability

**Signal:** Exploited: patch now if you run it. CISA has confirmed exploitation in the wild. (Computed from CISA KEV, EPSS and CVSS; not an editorial verdict.)

## Should you act?

- Yes, if you run Sangoma FreePBX. CISA added this CVE to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog on 2025-08-29, which means there is reliable evidence of exploitation in the wild. US federal agencies must remediate by 2025-09-19 ; treat that as the outer limit, not the target.
- EPSS 95.0% , percentile 99.9: FIRST’s model estimates a 95.0% chance of exploitation activity in the next 30 days, higher than 99.9% of all scored CVEs (very high). EPSS is a probability, not a verdict.
- Remotely reachable with no login and no user interaction. If the vulnerable service is exposed to the internet, prioritize it.

## What it is

FreePBX is an open-source web-based graphical user interface. FreePBX 15, 16, and 17 endpoints are vulnerable due to insufficiently sanitized user-supplied data allowing unauthenticated access to FreePBX Administrator leading to arbitrary database manipulation and remote code execution. This issue has been patched in endpoint versions 15.0.66, 16.0.89, and 17.0.3.

## Affected products (CVE record)

- FreePBX endpoint: < 15.0.66, < 16.0.89, < 17.0.3

## Severity

- GitHub_M CVSS 4.0: 10 `CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:H/SI:H/SA:H`

## Exploitation

- CISA KEV: added 2025-08-29; federal due date 2025-09-19. Known ransomware use: Unknown.
- CISA required action: Apply mitigations per vendor instructions, follow applicable BOD 22-01 guidance for cloud services, or discontinue use of the product if mitigations are unavailable.
- CISA SSVC assessment: exploitation active , automatable yes , technical impact total .
- FIRST EPSS (model of 2026-10-21): 95.02% probability of exploitation activity in the next 30 days; percentile 99.9.
