Critical and remotely reachable
No known exploitation yet, but it is network-reachable without credentials. This signal is computed from CISA KEV, EPSS and CVSS data; it is not an editorial verdict.
- Not in CISA KEV, but CISA’s SSVC assessment records a public proof-of-concept, so attack code exists.
- EPSS 1.1%, percentile 67: FIRST’s model estimates a 1.1% chance of exploitation activity in the next 30 days, higher than 67% of all scored CVEs (moderate). EPSS is a probability, not a verdict.
- Remotely reachable with no login and no user interaction. If the vulnerable service is exposed to the internet, prioritize it.
- Only applies if your dependency tree includes
flowise(npm) >= 2.2.7-patch.1, < 3.0.6, fixed in 3.0.6. Check your lockfile, including transitive dependencies.
What it is
Flowise before 3.0.6 (affected versions 2.2.7-patch.1 and earlier) contains an unsandboxed remote code execution vulnerability in the Custom MCP feature, which is designed to execute OS commands such as launching local MCP servers. Because Flowise's authentication and authorization model is minimal and lacks role-based access control, and the default installation runs without authentication unless FLOWISEUSERNAME and FLOWISEPASSWORD are set, an attacker can send a crafted JSON payload with the header 'x-request-from: internal' to the /api/v1/node-load-method/customMCP endpoint to execute arbitrary OS commands, resulting in complete compromise of the platform container or server.
From the GitHub advisory
Summary The Custom MCPs feature is designed to execute OS commands, for instance, using tools like npx to spin up local MCP Servers. However, Flowise's inherent authentication and authorization model is minimal and lacks role-based access controls (RBAC). Furthermore, the default installation of Flowise operates without authentication unless explicitly configured using the FLOWISEUSERNAME and FLOWISEPASSWORD environment variables.
This combination presents a significant security risk, potentially allowing users on the platform to execute unsandboxed system commands. This can result in Remote Code Execution (RCE) and complete compromise of the running platform container or server.
PoC 1. Follow the provided instructions for running the app using Docker Compose (or other methods of your choosing such as npx, pnpm, etc): https://github.com/FlowiseAI/Flowise?tab=readme-ov-file#-docker
2. Create a new file named payload.json somewhere in your machine, with the following data:
3. Send the following curl request using the payload.json file created above with the following command:
