Locutus brings stdlibs of other programming languages to JavaScript for educational purposes.
CVSS 9.8 Critical EPSS 0.9% · p58
Should you act?
Critical and remotely reachable
No known exploitation yet, but it is network-reachable without credentials. This signal is computed from CISA KEV, EPSS and CVSS data; it is not an editorial verdict.
- Not in CISA KEV, but CISA’s SSVC assessment records a public proof-of-concept, so attack code exists.
- EPSS 0.9%, percentile 58: FIRST’s model estimates a 0.9% chance of exploitation activity in the next 30 days, higher than 58% of all scored CVEs (moderate). EPSS is a probability, not a verdict.
- Remotely reachable with no login and no user interaction. If the vulnerable service is exposed to the internet, prioritize it.
- Only applies if your dependency tree includes
locutus(npm) <= 3.0.13, fixed in 3.0.14. Check your lockfile, including transitive dependencies.
What it is
Locutus brings stdlibs of other programming languages to JavaScript for educational purposes. Prior to 3.0.14, the createfunction(args, code) function passes both parameters directly to the Function constructor without any sanitization, allowing arbitrary code execution. This is distinct from CVE-2026-29091 which was calluserfuncarray using eval() in v2.x. This finding affects createfunction using new Function() in v3.x. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.0.14.
