CVE-2026-44221: ArcadeDB vulnerable to cross-database authorization bypass and unsecured newly-created databases

ArcadeDB is a Multi-Model DBMS. Starting in version 21.10.1 and prior to version 26.4.2, authenticated users and API tokens scoped to a specific database could read, write, and mutate schema on any other database on the same server.

Should you act?

Critical, preconditions apply

Severe if exploited, but exploitation needs conditions that may not apply to you. This signal is computed from CISA KEV, EPSS and CVSS data; it is not an editorial verdict.

  • No confirmed exploitation. It is not in CISA’s KEV catalog and CISA’s SSVC assessment records no known exploitation. That can change quickly after a public write-up; re-check if you are affected.
  • EPSS 0.4%, percentile 36: FIRST’s model estimates a 0.4% chance of exploitation activity in the next 30 days, higher than 36% of all scored CVEs (low). EPSS is a probability, not a verdict.
  • Needs an account (low (any account)). Exposure depends on who can log in.
  • Only applies if your dependency tree includes com.arcadedb:arcadedb-server (Maven) >= 21.10.1, < 26.4.2, fixed in 26.4.2. Check your lockfile, including transitive dependencies.

What it is

ArcadeDB is a Multi-Model DBMS. Starting in version 21.10.1 and prior to version 26.4.2, authenticated users and API tokens scoped to a specific database could read, write, and mutate schema on any other database on the same server. Two distinct defects contributed: (1) ServerSecurityUser.getDatabaseUser() returned a DB user with an uninitialized fileAccessMap, which requestAccessOnFile treated as allow-all; (2) ArcadeDBServer.createDatabase() omitted factory.setSecurity(...) so any database created via POST /api/v1/server {"command":"create database X"} had its entire record-level authorization system silently disabled. In combination, record-level and database-level authorization could be bypassed by any authenticated principal. This vulnerability is fixed in 26.4.2.

From the GitHub advisory

Impact Authenticated users and API tokens scoped to a specific database could read, write, and mutate schema on any other database on the same server. Exploitation and urgency

  • CISA KEV: not listed (no confirmed in-the-wild exploitation known to CISA).
  • CISA SSVC assessment: exploitation none, automatable no, technical impact total.
  • FIRST EPSS (model of 2026-10-21): 0.43% probability of exploitation activity in the next 30 days; percentile 36.
