# CVE-2026-45579: DIRAC is vulnerable to RCE in RequestManager due to eval on untrusted input

**Signal:** Critical, preconditions apply. Severe if exploited, but exploitation needs conditions that may not apply to you. (Computed from CISA KEV, EPSS and CVSS; not an editorial verdict.)

## Should you act?

- No confirmed exploitation. It is not in CISA’s KEV catalog and CISA’s SSVC assessment records no known exploitation. That can change quickly after a public write-up; re-check if you are affected.
- EPSS 0.9% , percentile 58: FIRST’s model estimates a 0.9% chance of exploitation activity in the next 30 days, higher than 58% of all scored CVEs (moderate). EPSS is a probability, not a verdict.
- Needs an account (low (any account)). Exposure depends on who can log in.
- Only applies if your dependency tree includes DIRAC (PyPI) >= 6, < 8.0.79, fixed in 8.0.79 ; DIRAC (PyPI) >= 8.1.0a1, < 9.0.22, fixed in 9.0.22 ; DIRAC (PyPI) >= 9.1.0, < 9.1.10, fixed in 9.1.10 . Check your lockfile, including transitive dependencies.

## What it is

DIRAC is an interware, meaning a software framework for distributed computing. Prior to versions 8.0.79, 9.0.22, and 9.1.10, the RequestManagementSystem/Service/ReqManagerHandler.py exportgetRequestCountersWeb function passes an authenticated caller-controlled groupingAttribute to RequestManagementSystem/DB/RequestDB.py getRequestCountersWeb. An unrecognized value is resolved against the Request object and evaluated as Python code, allowing a crafted dunder attribute expression to reach operating-system functions and execute commands as the account running the DIRAC services. Successful exploitation can expose dirac.cfg, database passwords, stored proxies, and tokens, fully compromise the DIRAC system, and allow alteration of local log evidence. This issue is fixed in versions 8.0.79, 9.0.22, and 9.1.10.

## Affected packages

- PyPI `DIRAC` >= 6, < 8.0.79 → fixed: 8.0.79
- PyPI `DIRAC` >= 8.1.0a1, < 9.0.22 → fixed: 9.0.22
- PyPI `DIRAC` >= 9.1.0, < 9.1.10 → fixed: 9.1.10

## Affected products (CVE record)

- DIRACGrid DIRAC: >= 6r0, < 8.0.79, >= 9.0.0a1, < 9.0.22, >= 9.1.0, < 9.1.10

## Severity

- GitHub_M CVSS 3.1: 9.9 `CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H`
- GitHub CVSS 3.1: 9.9 `CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H`

## Exploitation

- CISA KEV: not listed (no confirmed in-the-wild exploitation known to CISA).
- CISA SSVC assessment: exploitation none , automatable no , technical impact total .
- FIRST EPSS (model of 2026-10-21): 0.86% probability of exploitation activity in the next 30 days; percentile 58.
