Should you act?

Critical, preconditions apply

Severe if exploited, but exploitation needs conditions that may not apply to you. This signal is computed from CISA KEV, EPSS and CVSS data; it is not an editorial verdict.

  • No confirmed exploitation. It is not in CISA’s KEV catalog and CISA’s SSVC assessment records no known exploitation. That can change quickly after a public write-up; re-check if you are affected.
  • EPSS 0.4%, percentile 35: FIRST’s model estimates a 0.4% chance of exploitation activity in the next 30 days, higher than 35% of all scored CVEs (low). EPSS is a probability, not a verdict.
  • Needs an account (low (any account)). Exposure depends on who can log in.
  • Only applies if your dependency tree includes shopper/framework (Composer (PHP)) < 2.8.0, fixed in 2.8.0. Check your lockfile, including transitive dependencies.

What it is

Shopper is a Headless e-commerce Admin Panel. Prior to 2.8.0, two distinct authorization defects in the team settings allowed any authenticated panel user to take over the RBAC system. Settings/Team/Index had no mount() authorization. Any authenticated user could load the page and use its public actions to create new roles and delete other users, including administrators. Settings/Team/RolePermission gated its write actions on the read-only viewusers permission. Any user holding viewusers could grant themselves or any other user arbitrary permissions, including manageusers and editorders, effectively escalating to full panel administrator from a read-only account. Combined, these two defects allow a low-privilege authenticated user to obtain administrator privileges and remove the legitimate administrators from the panel. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.8.0.

Impact

Two distinct authorization defects in the team settings allowed any authenticated panel user to take over the RBAC system:

- Settings/Team/Index had no mount() authorization. Any authenticated user could load the page and use its public actions to create new roles and delete other users, including administrators. - Settings/Team/RolePermission gated its write actions on the read-only viewusers permission.

Exploitation and urgency

  • CISA KEV: not listed (no confirmed in-the-wild exploitation known to CISA).
  • CISA SSVC assessment: exploitation none, automatable no, technical impact total.
