# CVE-2026-49468: LiteLLM: Authentication Bypass via Host Header Injection

**Signal:** Critical and remotely reachable. No known exploitation yet, but it is network-reachable without credentials. (Computed from CISA KEV, EPSS and CVSS; not an editorial verdict.)

## Should you act?

- No confirmed exploitation. It is not in CISA’s KEV catalog and CISA’s SSVC assessment records no known exploitation. That can change quickly after a public write-up; re-check if you are affected.
- EPSS 3.0% , percentile 87: FIRST’s model estimates a 3.0% chance of exploitation activity in the next 30 days, higher than 87% of all scored CVEs (elevated). EPSS is a probability, not a verdict.
- Remotely reachable with no login and no user interaction. If the vulnerable service is exposed to the internet, prioritize it.
- Only applies if your dependency tree includes litellm (PyPI) < 1.84.0, fixed in 1.84.0 . Check your lockfile, including transitive dependencies.

## What it is

LiteLLM is a proxy server (AI Gateway) to call LLM APIs in OpenAI (or native) format. Prior to 1.84.0, a Host-header parsing flaw in the LiteLLM proxy could, under specific conditions, allow unauthenticated access to protected management routes. The auth layer derived the effective route from request.url.path in litellm/proxy/auth/authutils.py::getrequestroute(), which Starlette reconstructs from the Host header. A crafted Host could therefore make the auth gate evaluate a different route from the one FastAPI dispatched. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.84.0.

## Affected packages

- PyPI `litellm` < 1.84.0 → fixed: 1.84.0

## Affected products (CVE record)

- BerriAI litellm: < 1.84.0

## Exploitation

- CISA KEV: not listed (no confirmed in-the-wild exploitation known to CISA).
- CISA SSVC assessment: exploitation none , automatable yes , technical impact total .
- FIRST EPSS (model of 2026-10-21): 3.03% probability of exploitation activity in the next 30 days; percentile 87.
