aws-mcp-server AWS CLI Command Injection Remote Code Execution Vulnerability.
CVSS 9.8 Critical EPSS 2.3% · p83
Should you act?
Critical and remotely reachable
No known exploitation yet, but it is network-reachable without credentials. This signal is computed from CISA KEV, EPSS and CVSS data; it is not an editorial verdict.
- No confirmed exploitation. It is not in CISA’s KEV catalog and CISA’s SSVC assessment records no known exploitation. That can change quickly after a public write-up; re-check if you are affected.
- EPSS 2.3%, percentile 83: FIRST’s model estimates a 2.3% chance of exploitation activity in the next 30 days, higher than 83% of all scored CVEs (elevated). EPSS is a probability, not a verdict.
- Remotely reachable with no login and no user interaction. If the vulnerable service is exposed to the internet, prioritize it.
- Only applies if your dependency tree includes
aws-mcp(PyPI) <= 1.7.0, no fixed version listed. Check your lockfile, including transitive dependencies.
What it is
aws-mcp-server AWS CLI Command Injection Remote Code Execution Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of aws-mcp-server. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the handling of the allowed commands list. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied string before using it to execute a system call. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the MCP server. Was ZDI-CAN-27969.
