# CVE-2026-53471: Openshift Migration Advisor agent-API fails to validate JWT source_id claim, allowing cross-tenant data manipulation

**Signal:** Critical, preconditions apply. Severe if exploited, but exploitation needs conditions that may not apply to you. (Computed from CISA KEV, EPSS and CVSS; not an editorial verdict.)

## Should you act?

- No confirmed exploitation. It is not in CISA’s KEV catalog and CISA’s SSVC assessment records no known exploitation. That can change quickly after a public write-up; re-check if you are affected.
- EPSS 0.5% , percentile 43: FIRST’s model estimates a 0.5% chance of exploitation activity in the next 30 days, higher than 43% of all scored CVEs (low). EPSS is a probability, not a verdict.
- Needs an account (low (any account)). Exposure depends on who can log in.
- Only applies if your dependency tree includes github.com/kubev2v/migration-planner (Go) < 0.13.5, fixed in 0.13.5 . Check your lockfile, including transitive dependencies.

## What it is

A flaw was found in migration-planner. The agent-API middleware processes JSON Web Tokens (JWTs) for authentication, but its UpdateSourceInventory and UpdateAgentStatus handlers fail to validate the sourceid claim within these tokens against the requested source ID. This oversight allows an authenticated attacker with a valid agent token to manipulate data across different tenants, leading to a complete collapse of tenant isolation. This could result in unauthorized overwriting of victim inventory, planting of malicious credential URLs, or corruption of migration assessments.

## Affected packages

- Go `github.com/kubev2v/migration-planner` < 0.13.5 → fixed: 0.13.5

## Affected products (CVE record)

- migration-planner: < 0.13.5

## Severity

- redhat CVSS 3.1: 9.6 `CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:N`
- GitHub CVSS 3.1: 9.6 `CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:N`

## Exploitation

- CISA KEV: not listed (no confirmed in-the-wild exploitation known to CISA).
- CISA SSVC assessment: exploitation none , automatable no , technical impact total .
- FIRST EPSS (model of 2026-10-21): 0.51% probability of exploitation activity in the next 30 days; percentile 43.
